So, who am I, and why should you care about what I think about old movies?
Well, I'm a 36-year-old career librarian from Michigan, and a life-long cinephile. Before getting my Library Science degree, I considered film school for a long time, and my thesis for my first Master's degree was on the intersection of film and politics. I've never written about film, or really anything professionally. I did once sit on a film discussion panel with John Scalzi, though, and managed to come up with sci-fi movies he hadn't heard of, so that has to count for something.
When not writing about movies from my childhood, I spend most of my non-work or commute time reading fantasy novels, managing a ridiculous number of fantasy football and baseball teams, and feeding a crippling World of Warcraft addiction.
So, why "Pythos"? Back when I started playing the aforementioned World of Warcraft, I named all of my characters after party members from the college Dungeons and Dragons game I ran. My rogue, Pythos, was named after my roommate's character, and he became my WoW raiding "main." I have over 300 DAYS of cumulative playing time on Pythos, and I got so used to other people calling me that in text and voice chat that it stuck as an online handle.
